That thing is hideous. If it does restore my hair though, that does not bother me in the least. The two giant earmuff looking things you see there do actually act as headphones as well. It is fully compatible with your iPod or any other mp3 player. That’s a nice little bell they added and the whistle is the adjustable clips that fit almost any head size. Now let’s break down the technical specifications of the iGrow Laser Helmet as advertised. The important thing to remember here is that an effective wavelength for LLLT is at 655 nanometers.
On Amazon, the iGrow Hair Growth System had a 3.3-star rating, based on 45 customer reviews. There, common compliments cited its effectiveness for regrowing hair and increasing thickness, ease of use, and quality customer service. As might be expected, the most common complaints cited high price (more next), ineffective results, and short return windows.
Thank you for reaching out to us. It's not a known side effect of the iGrow and didn't occur in any of our studies, but it's normal for people to shed 50-100 hairs per day as part of hair's natural growth cycle. There are a very small number of people who experience a little bit more at the beginning of any hair loss treatment which is just the follicle letting go while a new hair is created. It can be alarming, but when it does happen it's minor, temporary and re-grows with the rest of the rejuvenated hair.
Recent scientific research has confirmed Mester’s findings. In 2009, in a 26-week, randomized, double-blind study done on 110 patients, researchers concluded that the HairMax LaserComb, one of the earliest laser devices sold to treat hair loss, was an effective treatment for male pattern baldness. The LaserComb group showed significantly greater increases in hair density compared to the placebo (sham device) group (2).
The iGrow is getting our Risky Try rating based mostly on their 6 month money back guarantee, and the fine print of how it works. While it’s unclear whether or not this works for the majority of those that try it, it’s something that you can try out for an extended period of time. The company is pretty confident that after using it as directed for 6 months you won’t be sending it back. With this price point you’re not going to forget to return it if you’re not happy with it.

Reviewers seem to always think that their personal case applies to everyone and make definitive statements like “don’t waste your money” or “it works”. Each user will respond differently to laser light therapy for hair loss. Hair growth response will depend on the type of hair loss, skin tone, skin thickness, and dosage. Certain types of hair loss will not respond to laser light therapy, no matter what…this product and ones like it will not work for some people. If it doesn’t work for you, then you may fall within this category and there’s no point in telling others that it doesn’t work and not to waste money. These types of products may also be less effective in people with a darker skin tone. Melanin in skin absorbs light. Likewise, melanin in skin will absorb the light coming from these products. The darker you are, the more melanin you have, and the more absorption of light…those with darker skin tone may want to increase dosage (speak with a trichologist first). About dosage, go to pubmed.com and find articles that reviewed laser light therapy dosage. You’ll find that there is a very broad range of length of time and frequency of application…some articles say 2-3 times a week while others say up to 40 times a week. Once again, we’re all different and dosage with respect to time and frequency will depend on the individual. A user must also consider how penetration of light into the skin has an influence on efficacy. Penetration of light will depend on the level of intensity of light, the thickness of a user’s skin, and the distance of the light from the skin, (as well as the melanin concentration as stated above). The iGrow helmet has its own standard of light intensity, while other devices may have a different intensity of light. The intensity and distance of light to a user’s scalp are probably the most important factors that will determine penetration of light into the skin. Optimal penetration needs to occur for this type of therapy to work. I’m assuming iGrow has figured out the optimal distance and intensity of light for best results.
I’ve tried a few different things with the hopes that it might make my hair recover. There’s Biotin, which I’m still taking once a day. I don’t think it’s really doing anything. I’ve tried some hair vitamins called Hairfluence for a couple months. They didn’t really help either. The latest test has been Biotin shampoo which I’ve been using for a month or so without any noticeable effects. So when I was offered the chance, I was totally game to try the iRestore.
The science behind LLLT therapy is that medical-grade, low-level lasers and red light therapy penetrate the scalp and stimulate hair follicles. To dig deeper into the science, the photons emitted from the light stimulate follicles on a cellular level which, in turn, increases adenosine triphosphate production. ATP is the primary carrier of energy in the cells and enhances cell function and replication.
The restocking fee at $120 for a product that costs $700 is not bad. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible either. But then you’ve got to wonder, if you could make a garbage product for $30 and rent it out for six months for $120, could you make money? The answer is a definitive yes. The 6 month money back guarantee is nothing to brag about because of the high restocking fee. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted, but the restocking fee makes me cringe just a bit.

Well it is ok that Happy had a laugh at my expense because I am very happy! It has been six weeks now and I can now wear hats and still have a hair style after I take them off. I no longer see a balding patch at the crown of my head because the hair that I have has body and life to cover and is thicker. The once widow’s peak is filling in and my hairdresser, that didn’t believe my excited texts, has now seen the results herself. When I arrived for a haircut she said “I’ll get my magnifying glass.” I told her she wouldn’t need it and when she looked at it she said, “wow, you’re right!” You can see the new hairs all over my head. At this point I still have fine hair and of course the new ones are super fine, but my hair is no longer limp and it has life and body that I haven’t seen since my twenties. The clumps of hair at the front that I was seeing almost right away is thicker in diameter and about an inch long now.

The second one appeared in the peer-review medical journal, The International Journal of Trichology in August 2014. The article provides photographic evidence of the efficacy of the HairMax LaserComb used on subjects treated for at least 9 months for drugs and were either no longer responding or were intolerant of these treatments. The HairMax LaserComb was added to treatments with either with minoxidil and/or finasteride regimens, or used in place of these treatment. Almost 90% of patients treated with drugs and the HairMax LaserComb had significant results, and 100% of those patients treated with the device in place of the drugs, showed significant results.
The more time I spend on this planet the old adage that you never know what you have until it's gone rings more and more true. I have always had long, beautiful hair—it has been part of my identity. And I never once actually thought about how lucky I was to have a full head of lustrous, flowing hair until a few months back when my stress levels hit the roof and it started breaking off and falling out.

You operate the device with a handheld controller that starts and stops the sessions, and which includes a small, backlit display with a timer. The LEDs automatically turn off after 25 minutes, although the controller emits a beep as a reminder. You power the unit with an AC adapter that plugs into an electrical outlet (you don’t have to worry about constantly re-charging batteries).

The recommended use for HairMax Ultima 9 is three 10-15 minute sessions per week. That seems like a lot of combing – and you may develop some nicely-toned and muscled arms in the process – but, again, it’s only for three times a week and you can do it in the convenience of your home. So, put on some music, or your favorite television show, and comb away.

Hello, I am looking forward to your review as I am a 43 year old male who finally bit the bullet and had a procedure done at Bosley yesterday. The doc recommended some sort of laser therapy to keep the hair I have and I ran across this product on Amazon. I am looking forward to some real world testing before I spend that kind of money on a product. Good luck to you as I hope it gives you the results we all hope for!
The iGrow is a standalone treatment which doesn't require anything additional to be effective. However, Apira Science does produce various products and accessories for purchase, which are sometimes offered as part of a "package" by sellers. I do wish you'd contacted us before leaving a negative review, since it sounds as though you simply bought a package that included a free bottle of shampoo alone.
My hairdresser is delighted with the results and has been giving me much better cuts; either because my hair is responding better or she is more excited about my hair and experimenting more. Who knows, all I know is I wouldn’t give my Igrow back for double the money back, but you will need to try it on your own head to see if it is right for you and in doing so, you have nothing to lose.

Using a non-invasive hair treatment, this laser cap formula does not have any competition. This laser cap works to handle all problems which leads to thinning or loss of hair. A variety of health problems could cause thinning or loss of hair. These things include: stress, the type of diet, lifestyle, androgenic alopecia, aging and a host of other things.

With specially designed programmes for both men and women, the iGrow Laser Hair Rejuvenation System is suitable for use by both men and women. If you know that you have a genetic susceptibility to hair loss, the iGrow is the perfect way to keep your hair healthy, thick and strong before hair loss occurs, and if you have started to notice thinning hair on your crown or a receding hair line, iGrow is ideal for you.
I used the products faithfully for almost nine months. To my disappointment, hair kept falling out. I purchased the helmet, shampoo, serum, and pills. I requested for a refund based on their guarantee, and they stated that I had missed the deadline for this request by 15 days. WOW, really? Scam company run by a bunch of scumbags. Don't waste your money on this bogus product!
“A form of alternative medicine that uses low-level (low-power) lasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Other names include low-power laser, soft laser, cold laser, biostimulation laser, therapeutic laser, and laser acupuncture. Whereas high-power lasers used in laser medicine destroy or cut tissue, low-power lasers are claimed to stimulate it and to encourage the cells to function.”

With built in head phones that can connect to your MP3 player, iPod or anything else with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, you don’t even have to do anything – you could just sit back and relax if you like! Treatment sessions are completely automatic and take just 20-25 minutes. With just two or three sessions required per week, you can see results in as little as 12 weeks and your hair will only continue to improve in strength and thickness from there on in.
In recent clinical trials, the iGrow Laser Hair Growth System showed increased hair counts in women by 35 percent after 16 weeks of treatment (every other day for 25 minutes), and nearly doubled total hair growth 10 weeks faster than regular hand-held laser combs and brushes. These results were consistent with a previous award-winning iGrow study showing similar hair growth improvements in males.

I started using igrow in Feb 2015. I went to a hair restoration place. I used hair support and eufora thickening system. It took about 5 months to see results. I still getting new hair. I almost have all my hair back. I had a bald spot in the middle and sides of hair.It takes time to see results. It really works. The shampoos I used really speeded up my results. Thanks I grow
2) There have been 6 double-blind clinical studies comparing the HairMax LaserComb to a sham device that have all consistently proven the efficacy and and safety of the device. Further, there have been 6 FDA 510(k) Clearances granted for the HairMax LaserComb. No other device on the market can provide anywhere the number of studies that have proven its efficacy, nor as many FDA reviews., Finally, as listed on this post, no other device has had as many papers published on the results of the clinical trials of their devices in peer review journals, as has the HairMax Laser Comb.
Not satisfied with accepting my hair loss situation as my new normal I immediately went into research mode. I came across a variety of potentially dangerous and messy topical medications and hair transplants. I wasn’t into either of those options. And just when I was beginning to get discouraged, the universe magically provided a potential solution—iGrow, an at-home, FDA-cleared, Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) device that is used to help stimulate hair growth for both men and women. After testing out the unit out for six months I was amazed by the results and wanted to share this option with anyone out there suffering from hair loss looking for a viable solution.

“iDerma is for anyone who wants to get fresher, more radiant, glowing skin. There really is no ideal candidate as long as the user has manageable expectations. iDerma has multiple wavelengths so it works at various levels of the cell. Unlike creams or other topical solutions, iDerma works from the inside out, treating cells to enhance appearance. The lights used in the iDerma are absorbed into the skin and stimulates the cells to produce fibroblast cells, which then produce more collagen fibers while enhancing cellular activity resulting in a more youthful appearance. Obviously, the level of skin damage will dictate results, but everyone should see some benefit”, states Braile.

“Plants convert sunlight into energy, which they use to grow. This is similar to the process of photobiomodulation. Certain wavelengths of light whether laser or LED, are absorbed into the outer layer of skin where your hair follicles reside. The light creates ATP (cellular energy), which strengthens both the cells and the surrounding area creating a perfect scenario for hair growth. Follicles expand, hair gets thicker, and new hairs grow from the now open hair follicles”, Braile tells me of how LLLT works to stimulate hair growth.
The “Lost in Space” Igrow space helmet doesn’t work at all, neither stopping hair loss nor growing new hair, from my $600 experiment with the device, religiously using the device every other day for 7 and one-half months, to the current date, 9/02/2015. Was it a total waste of money? Yes, but one has to weigh the cost of the helmet against other, more costly treatments. So, in that respect, it simply was a costly “crapshoot” that didn’t work.

Just know that it will not be one thing that saves you from your hair loss. It will be multiple things, the right things, that turn things around for you. Do your research and stay committed to a specific routine. I hope the very best for you as you go on this journey, but do something today, because once your hair is gone,...it's not going to come back on it's own.

It’s been 16 weeks since I started testing the iRestore Laser Hair Growth System. Every other day I’ve worn the helmet for a 25-minute session. I did miss a couple days when I was on vacation this summer, but other than that, I’ve been diligent in keeping up with the routine so I could do a real review to see if their claim of thicker and more hair in 16 weeks of using this product was true. As you can tell from the collection of images above, I don’t think the iRestore made my hair grow any faster or thicker and it did not as far as I can tell, cause new hair to grow in the thin spots on the top of my head.

I purchased the iGrow in June of 2017, have used it 2-3 times a week as directed, every single week since June 2017. It is now March of 2018, and I can't say there is even the slightest of difference in my hair density. If anything, I might have lost more since I purchased the device, but I think it's due to the progression of hair loss and nothing to do with the device, although I still believe the iGrow helmet hasn't made any difference.
ATP is the primary carrier of energy in the cells and enhances cell function and replication.

iGrow uses a combination of proven science and technological achievements. It is the product of decades of research and development. It uses the same technology as the ones used by professional hair loss medical experts without the very high cost of such on-going treatments. LLLT works to invigorate the cells within so that the hair will grow naturally healthy. It uses the scientifically-proven wavelength of 655 nanometers.

Since the light excites hair growth on a cellular level users need a viable hair follicle to see results, which means that not everyone is good candidate for iGrow. The device works effectively in women with Fitzpatrick skin phototypes I to IV and with Ludwig Baldness Scale Classifications of I to II, and also in men with androgenetic alopecia who have Norwood Hamilton Classifications of IIa to V. “People who are shiny bald whose hair follicles are damaged and have scarred over won’t experience results. This is another reason to start the treatment as early as possible”, states Braile.

Update @ 9 months: So, it's normal now for people who haven't seen me to comment on my hair, usually asking if I've dyed it darker or just mentioning that it looks thicker. The hairs on my balding patch are fully mature now and seems to be as thick as other hairs although there are fewer of them there. I grew my hair out several inches and at times was sporting some serious volume. My hair is more noticeable in the shower drain, and I experienced one week of excess shedding. But the shedding was temporary and now everything is going well, I'm not worried about hair loss at all. I can feel that my hair is healthy, and I'm enjoying the ability to grow it longer and try different styles.

The iGrow hands-free laser LED light therapy is a Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) device. It makes use of red laser and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) to energize and stimulate cellular activity leading to an increased natural hair follicle uptake. 51 laser and LED light sources work together to stimulate hair follicles resulting in more vibrant hair.

If your hair loss is mild and your main goal is to stop further hair loss, you can try lower level laser therapy (LLLT). However, if your hair loss is in an advanced stage and you want to regrow some of your loss hair, it is better to use FDA approved (instead of FDA cleared) products like Minoxidil and/or finasteride.  If you do decide to try LLLT treatment, you can also consider other similar device like Theradome and Capillus that have higher density of laser diodes and therefore can potentially work more efficiently.

During the first couple of weeks, you won’t notice much in terms of new hair growth. However, there were a number of reports stating that hair fall was significantly reduced, even during a shower. If you’ve ever dealt with the heartbreak that comes with washing your hair and watching hundreds of strands going down the drain, then this alone will be a huge incentive to buy.
I've used this protocol in conjunction with all of our products very, very successfully, and it is the most FDA-approved laser, meaning iGrow has 2 FDA clearances, one for men and one for women, based upon their own research. This is totally unique to every other at-home device that is a helmet. This is based upon their own clinical research, their own evidence that it works, and quite frankly after using it in practice for nearly 5 years now, I know it works. It's what I recommend continuously.

HOW IT WORKS: Our engineers have calibrated the lasers to the optimal wavelength (650nm red light) proven to promote hair growth. The 51 medical-grade lasers and LEDs radiate light energy that is absorbed by the hair follicles to enhance cell metabolism rate and reactivate follicles to stimulate hair growth. Although it can be used alone, physicians often recommend laser therapy to be used along with other solutions (such as minoxidil, finasteride, shampoo or supplements) to accelerate growth and get maximum benefits.
